G. C. Taylor Farms Ltd is a family-run arable farm that has been working the fertile lands of the Carse of Gowrie since 1927. For four generations, we have combined traditional agricultural values with modern precision, evolving from a local family farm into a trusted partner in the Scottish agricultural food chain, dedicated to quality and stewardship.

Harvest Positions Available

Experienced Arable Operator

We’re looking for an experienced arable operator to join the team at G. C. Taylor Farms Ltd in the Carse of Gowrie. You’ll work across our own farming enterprise and contracting operations, supporting key tasks from seedbed preparation through to harvest.

    Key responsibilities: - Operating modern, GPS-equipped tractors and machinery - Cultivation, drilling and seedbed preparation - Fertiliser and spray applications under guidance - Grain carting and harvest support with combine and trailers - Daily machinery checks and basic maintenance

  • Proven experience operating large arable machinery
  • Strong awareness of safety and care for equipment
  • Reliable, practical and able to work extended hours in peak seasons
  • Full UK driving licence (telehandler or PA certificates an advantage)

General Harvest Operator

We’re looking for a General Harvest Operator to support our busy harvest period at G. C. Taylor Farms Ltd. You’ll help with a range of tasks across the yard and fields to keep grain and potato operations running smoothly.

  • Assisting with grain carting and trailer work
  • Helping load and unload grain and potatoes
  • Supporting grain drier and yard operations as required
  • Basic machinery checks and cleaning
  • General yard and field duties during peak periods

Key responsibilities

What we’re looking for

  • Some previous farm or machinery experience is helpful but not essential
  • Willing to learn, reliable and able to work longer hours in peak harvest
  • Comfortable working outdoors in a busy yard and field environment
  • Full UK driving licence preferred

Grain Drier & Yard Operator

We’re looking for a Grain Drier & Yard Operator to support harvest operations at G. C. Taylor Farms Ltd. This role is responsible for day’day grain drying, yard work and record keeping during the busy season.

  • Responsible for operating and monitoring the grain drier
  • Managing all grain drying from intake through to safe storage
  • Recording incoming crop loads and moisture levels
  • Organising and recording grain movements in and out of store
  • Loading out contracted loads from the grain store using a loader/telehandler
  • General yard duties to keep the site safe, tidy and efficient

Key responsibilities

What we’re looking for

  • Some previous experience in arable, grain handling or similar work is beneficial
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping
  • Comfortable working in a busy yard environment during harvest
  • Telehandler certificate preferred, but training and certification can be provided for the right candidate who shows capability to operate the loader

We are not just growers; we are partners in the food chain. As a key supplier for our sister company, Taylor Snacks, we specialise in growing the high-quality seed potatoes that eventually become your favourite crisps. This unique 'seed to snack' relationship allows us to maintain total traceability and only the best varieties are grown.

We offer a full spectrum of services, from traditional deep-plough inversion and strategic sub-soiling to alleviate compaction, to modern minimum-tillage methods using low-disturbance machinery to preserve soil carbon. Our fleet includes high-performance serrated discs and twin-row tine cultivators with double DD packers, capable of transforming heavy ground in a single efficient pass.

High-Capacity Arable Harvesting Solutions

Our harvesting operations are anchored by a high-capacity Claas Lexion 7600TT, equipped with 710mm Terra Tracks and a 9.3m (30’) header to ensure maximum throughput and rapid clearance. To maintain peak efficiency, the combine can be supported by twin 16-tonne Bailey grain trailers fitted with extra-wide flotation tyres. This configuration allows for the rapid transport of crops to your store or dryer while significantly mitigating the risk of structural soil damage.

Precision Fertiliser, Spraying & Crop Nutrition

1. Granular Fertiliser: Managed via a Kverneland Exacta-TL GEOspread spinner with full section control for widths from 18m to 36m.

2. Liquid Fertiliser: Delivered via our Agrifac self-propelled sprayer using Hypro FC-ESI straight-stream nozzles. Integrated section control ensures accurate placement, eliminating overlap and protecting field margins (24m–36m).

1:- Hedge cutting and verge cutting available using McConnel 6.5m telescopic reach flail tractor mounted hedge cutter.

2:- Setaside, field margin topping using a flail tractor mounted topper set by variable roller hieght.

3:- Gator mounted sprayer for sterile field edge spraying between crop and field grass margins for clean crop/weed control. Yard and enviromental plot spraying also carried out.

4:- Knapsack spraying also available.

5:- Wind blown tree clearance off cropped fields. Potato boxes can be supplied for cut logs/roundalls at extra cost for storage or bulk tipped in yard.

1. Crop Protection: We offer one-off treatments or complete farm packages managed by NRoSO registered operators using low-drift nozzle technology. Full statutory documentation is provided.

2. Specialist Boundary Work: Our John Deere Gator provides precision 1.5m boom or wand spraying and slug pellet application, ideal for field margins and difficult terrain.

1:- Two 16 tonne Bailey grain trailers on Michelin low ground pressure 650/55x26.5 flotation tyres with onboard trailer weighing system and printers for crop weight recording.

2:- Herbst 16 foot - 14 tonne twin axle lowloader trailer.

3:- 12 tonne dump trailer on original super single tyres.

4:- Through our sister company we can also provide 29 tonne bulker/artic trailer units for nationwide haulage of grain, potato and root crops, offering an intigrated 'field-to-destination' logistic solution.
